KING HARBOR AND SHORELINE
LOCATION:
LAT. 33' 50.3 w, LON. 118.23.7 N
APPROACH:
Power plant stacks are prominent with 165 ft lighted
beacon. Red and white safe water buoy outside harbor entrance can be passed
on either side.
ANCHORING:
Allowed inside breakwater away from tugboat buoys. Boats
must anchor fore and aft. Check in with harbor patrol via vhf on channel 16.
WASTE:
Pump-out station is located at harbor patrol office and
is free of charge.
FUEL
AND ICE:
Available from Rocky Point Marine Fuel Dock located across
from harbor patrol office.
SHORELINE:
North-sandy beaches with surf.
South and along Palos Verdes Peninsula is rocky with much kelp and winter high
surf.
MALAGA
COVE:
Unprotected in prevailing winds, but fine for lunch
anchoring. Stay out of surf and kelp line.
BLUFF
COVE:
Unprotected, with rock and kelp.
LUNADA
BAY:
Good diving and lunch anchorage. Rock and kelp. Consult
charts for rocks awash at low tide.
